Roman Czepa

My name is Roman Czepa and I am a pianist, music and piano teacher. I come from Drásov near Tišnov and now I live in Prague. As a child, I decided to learn to play the piano and enrolled myself in an elementary art school at the age of 11.

I owe the fact that they mediated the music to me mainly to my parents, who supported me in my journey to the pianist art all the time, although at the beginning they were not sure whether my interest in music would soon fade. It did not happen, but today I understand them, because the journey to art was long and difficult, but equally active and fulfilling. I wouldn’t trade it for anything today.

Throughout my music studies, I have been accompanied by excellent teachers who are my role models and to whom I owe everything I can do today. At the Tišnov Music School it was Mrs. Tamara Vašíčková, at the Brno Conservatory Mgr. Eva Horáková and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague prof. František Malý. Prof. Markus Tomas at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy” in Leipzig, Germany, also contributed to my musical direction, where I completed a one-year internship in the Erasmus student exchange program.

I had the opportunity to gain many concert and competition experiences, of which I most appreciate the cooperation with the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc in the solo part of Francis Poulenc’s piano concerto in C-sharp minor and the performance at the Joseph Woelfl Symposium as a soloist in the composition Concerto da camera for piano and chamber ensemble. At the request of Czech Radio, we subsequently created a studio recording of this work.

I am currently expanding my studies in postgraduate doctoral studies at the Faculty of Education of Charles University, where under the guidance of doc. Libuše Tichá I focus on the issues of updating study compositions for pianists.

I have been gaining my teaching experience since 2015. I cooperated with the International School of Music and Fine Arts Prague and Piano School Prague (formerly the Piano Studio of Eva Suchánková). I now offer private lessons in my own studio.
